We believe strongly that the eyes are a unique area of the body, and that an eye surgeon is the most qualified specialist to treat the eyes and eyelids. At Visionary Eye Care, Dr. Hidaji applies his fifteen years of experience doing thousands of delicate eye surgeries to each cosmetic eyelid procedure.
The Eyelid Lift (called blepharoplasty) is a one hour, in-office procedure which removes excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes - features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and that may even interfere with your vision. Dr. Hidaji’s goal is to gently sculpt and lift the tissues around your eyes without causing an unnatural “plastic surgery” look.
The best candidates for cosmetic eyelid surgery are men and women aged 35 or older who are realistic in their expectations. If droopy, baggy eyelids run in your family, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age. When you come into our office for the initial consultation, Dr. Hidaji will explain the procedure to you in detail. The preoperative evaluation will include photos and a computerized visual field test. If you have serious medical problems, Dr. Hidaji may request that the procedure be done in a hospital setting for your safety.
We are very attuned to the anxiety and stress that having a surgical procedure can provoke. Therefore, we take every measure to make your blepharoplasty experience comfortable and problem free. Our operative suite was purposefully designed to feel serene; calming music and feng shui design will welcome you. Dr. Hidaji uses a preoperative sedative and numbing medication to prevent discomfort. You will be conversing with Dr. Hidaji and his staff throughout the procedure to make sure that you have no pain. Ice compresses are applied immediately after surgery to minimize swelling and bruising.
After your Eyelid Lift, you’ll want to keep your activities to a minimum for three to five days, and you should avoid strenuous activities for about two weeks. It's especially important to avoid activities that raise your blood pressure, including bending, lifting, and rigorous sports.
